Château Veyry 2016 comes from a great Bordeaux vintage on the Right Bank, producing full-bodied, concentrated rich, complex, fruit-laden wines with crisp acidity and freshness.
Veyry is a garage wine – a term used to describe production that could fit into a garage. It is also literally a garage wine, comprising a battered old garage housing two battered old Citroens and disguising a small high-tech winery!
The estate’s secret is a combination of the genius that is Christian Veyry with 4 hectares of south-facing vines that are a direct continuation of the limestone ridge upon which the great Saint-Émilions are based. Château Veyry is certainly in the same rich vein as this classic Bordeaux style, without the price premium of its more famous neighbours. Remarkable fine red wines from an unremarkable shed.
