Utilising the softness and generosity of Merlot as a base, this classic Bordeaux inspired blend is a signature wine of the Esk Valley stable. Cabernet Sauvignon provides the backbone and the addition of Malbec adds spice and colour. Densely coloured, it has a bouquet of dark cherry, blackberry, dried herbs and cedar. It is soft and generous in nature and can be enjoyed as a youthful wine, but possesses sufficient tannin to age gracefully for many years. Great match to hard cheeses and red meat dishes.

    Description

Esk Valley has come a long way since Sir George Fistonich purchased the historic Glenvale Winery from the Bird Family in 1986. From a time when ports and sherries ruled the market, Esk Valley began forging a reputation for its innovative and quality wines. Under winemaker Gordon Russell Esk Valley broke boundaries introducing new grape varieties and new wine styles to Hawkes Bay.
