    Description

The Framingham label was launched in 1994 with one Riesling, and has since expanded to include Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. Framingham produces wines from their 19.5 hectare estate vineyard (certified organic since 2014) and other selected sites. Their Riesling vines, planted in 1981, are among the oldest in Marlborough.

There's no mistaking this is soulful Riesling with its broody nose of mandarin, nectarine and the merest hint of kerosene sneaking in there. It's mouth-filling and succulent; the residual sugar provides additional juiciness in this medium-dry style. Racy acidity streaks through the core of the wine, counteracting the element of sweetness. The stone-licking finish is somewhat phenolic (a small portion was fermented on skins for two weeks).
