Greywacke (pronounced Greywacky) is the Marlborough label of the Judd family and the name of New Zealand’s most abundant bedrock. These understated grey river stones are found throughout Marlborough’s rivers and alluvial vineyard soils. All the Greywacke vineyards are sustainably managed with substantial and increasing proportions coming from organically farmed sites. Kevin Judd is one of Marlborough’s pioneer winemakers whose career is intrinsically linked with the global profile of New Zealand wine. Kevin was the winemaker behind the iconic, Cloudy Bay Sauvignon back when it first gained global plaudits and recognition.
An opulent concoction that conjures thoughts of roasted apricots, cumquat marmalade on toasted brioche and white chocolate nougat. A voluptuous interpretation of pinot gris, with a luscious palate that is laced with dried fruits, dates and wildflower honey. This is a succulent, sweet wine with great concentration and a deliciously crisp, persistent finish.
