La Rioja Alta has long since been one of the most admired names in all of Rioja. Unlike some of the other houses, La Rioja Alta have significant vineyard holdings where they can source fantastic fruit – ultimate control! It’s reserva brand, Vina Ardanza is one of the best in it’s category.
A blend of 78% Tempranillo from 30 year old vines and 22% Garnacha. The two grapes are vinified and aged seperately, 36 months in barrel for the Tempranillo and 30 months for the Garnacha, before blending together. A powerful nose of balsamic, liquorice, vanilla, stewed strawberry and overripe cherry. The palate is silky smooth with further flavours of leather and nutmeg. Try pairing with roast lamb or smoked cheese.

Oak on the nose, followed by black cherry, vanilla, and red fruit. Bold and complex. Leather, black currant, dark chocolate, plum, cedar, bing cherry, and toasted nuts. Very dry.
