La Spinetta is not one of the oldest wineries in Piemonte, but they have produced some of the most iconic and greatest wines in the modern era. The Rivetti family have taken La Spinetta far from their humble beginninngs of exclusively Moscato production. Their Baroli aand Barbaresci are some of the most sought after each vintage. Each of the La Spinetta labels have the drawing of a Rhinoceros, unbelievably done by an artist in 1515 who had never seen one for himself!
A serious Barbera, the average age of vine used for this wine is 40 years old! The bouquet reveals notes of red cherry and blackberry with hints of wild violet and liquorice. The palate is powerful and concentrated with well-integrated tannins and typical Italian acidity. A great pairing with Parpadelle and Beef Ragu.
