Description
La Spinetta is not one of the oldest wineries in Piemonte, but they have produced some of the most iconic and greatest wines in the modern era. The Rivetti family have taken La Spinetta far from their humble beginninngs of exclusively Moscato production. Their Baroli aand Barbaresci are some of the most sought after each vintage. Each of the La Spinetta labels have the drawing of a Rhinoceros, unbelievably done by an artist in 1515 who had never seen one for himself!
A baby Barolo/Barbaresco, the Langhe Nebbiolo from La Spinetta is great value. The grapes for this wine come from La Spinetta’s vineyards in Nieve (Barbaresco). The wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels and a further 4 months in bottle before release. A Typical Piemontese nose of red berries, bramble, violet and dried herbs. The palate elegant with firm but ripe tannins. Try pairing with veal tartare (especially the Piemontese Fassona, if you can get it).
