Seifried Estate’s Aotea Méthode Traditionnelle is a very special wine. Two parcels of fruit were hand-picked at ideal ripeness for this classical Méthode Traditionnelle Cuvée. The Pinot Noir is from the Brightwater Vineyard
while the Chardonnay comes from the Cornfield Vineyard. The blend is 50/50 Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The Aotea Méthode Traditionnelle has grapefruit, warm brioche and buttered toast notes on the nose and the palate is luxurious and generous with full biscuity shortbread notes and a crisp, lasting finish. Try drinking with a traditional english fish and chips.

    Description

The Seifried story began in 1973 when Austrian born Hermann Seifried and his New Zealand wife Agnes had a dream of making wines in New Zealand’s sunshine capital – Nelson. From very small and modest beginnings when Hermann and Agnes grafted the vines late into the night, to today when all three Seifried children have returned home to play their part in growing the family business. Seifried Estate is a company devoted to sustainable winegrowing and producing the very best Nelson has to offer.

The flavor of this NV Méthode Traditionnelle Aotea by the Seifried Family, a Chardonnay/Pinot Noir blend is dominated by its four years on lees, giving it a prominent autolytic flavor of ground almonds and pastry. It’s precise and pure thanks to the Chardonnay component, while the Pinot adds a little weight on the midpalate. There’s mouth-watering acidity and a fine bubble. Citrus and apples join the lees-derived characters.
