Vasse Felix was established in 1967 and is Margaret River’s founding wine estate. Founder, Dr Tom Cullity, searched the region relentlessly for his first vineyard site, before selecting eight acres in Wilyabrup, which today remains at the heart of the Vasse Felix Estate. The Holmes à Court family purchased the estate in 1987, and vineyard expansions have been made with an unwavering commitment unnecessary to Cullity’s simple founding aim –“to make the best possible wine.”

The Premier Cabernet Sauvignon of Vasse Felix. This wine’s distinctive style possesses all the hallmarks of the finest Margaret River Cabernet; elegance, generosity and ageability. Made every year since 1972, it is Margaret River’s archetypal Cabernet Sauvignon. Super fragrant “Old Spice” perfume with nutmeg, star anise, orange, pimento, jasmine, vanilla, musk and cedar. With old cellar charm this vintage is more woodsy, wild mushroom and dark berry fruit than ocean scents. The palate is powerful with a rich core of fruit but the fine tannin structure and balanced adicity keep it from being heavy. Try pairing with parpadelle with a beef ragu or enjoy with a selection of hard cheeses.
