Flagship white from the Estate. The GVB White is a Semillon-Sauvignon Blanc blend. The Semillon was planted in 1991 on the south facing Korhaan flats at 220m above sea level. The Sauvignon Blanc grapes used in this blend come from the 30-year old Schaapenberg vineyard. These vineyards combined bring out the best of these varietals to make a full flavoured rich and complex white with a long finish. Tight, focused and beautifully integrated with herbal (fynbos) grapefruity flavours, ripe tropical notes and a long, focused aftertaste. Serve at 12-14ºC. Most enjoyable with oysters, crayfish, poultry and fish.

    Description

Since 1700, Vergelegen (meaning “situated far away”) has been a historic estate in Somerset West, in the Western Cape province of South Africa. Extending over 3000 hectares, from the banks of the Lourens River to the rock faces of the Hottentots Holland Mountains, Vergelegen is one of South’s Africa’s most prominent wineries. This is reflected by the fact its wines have earned more than 200 local and international awards since 1999.

Vergelegen’s unique and rich vineyard holdings allow awardwinning winemaker, André van Rensburg, to pursue his hunger for excellence, creativity and innovation. A self-proclaimed ‘perfectionist’, van Rensburg’s unwavering attention to detail and his passionate, longstanding team have ensured that Vergelegen’s winemaking philosophy of “harmony between the old and the new” has never faltered in the nineteen years that he’s been leading the winemaking efforts.
