Villa Maria’s 60 year journey at the forefront of New Zealand’s wine industry has shaped the company as it stands today. Our extensive portfolio is one the most geographically and stylistically diverse and highly-awarded range of premium wines by any New Zealand producer, fuelling consumer adoration and success across the globe.
Throughout the 1960s Villa Maria was a one-man band. In 1961, at just 21 years of age, Sir George Fistonich leased five acres of land from his father in Mangere, Auckland and started off with just an acre of vines. The first wine under the name Villa Maria in 1962 was made with grapes harvested from this block. Today, Villa Maria is a globally recognised and adored for its bold, expressive and exceptional New Zealand wines.
Villa Maria’s Cellar Selection range of wines are extremely food-friendly. The enticing varietal aromas and beautiful fruit-driven flavours make these wines an entertainer’s delight. Cellar Selection wines are made to share, making them the perfect accompaniment for dinner parties, or to be savoured at food and wine pairing evenings.
Capturing the essence of Marlborough, this Cellar Selection Sauvignon Blanc is a blend of selective parcels from both the Wairau and Awatere Valleys. Pungent aromas of fresh herbs and spring blossoms lead into a juicy palate bursting with grapefruit, lemons, and limes. The wine finishes with fresh balanced sherbet-like acidity and mineral flinty tones. Serve lightly chilled, perfect as an aperitif or matched with any seafood dish.
