Description
Villa Maria’s 60 year journey at the forefront of New Zealand’s wine industry has shaped the company as it stands today. Our extensive portfolio is one the most geographically and stylistically diverse and highly-awarded range of premium wines by any New Zealand producer, fuelling consumer adoration and success across the globe.
Throughout the 1960s Villa Maria was a one-man band. In 1961, at just 21 years of age, Sir George Fistonich leased five acres of land from his father in Mangere, Auckland and started off with just an acre of vines. The first wine under the name Villa Maria in 1962 was made with grapes harvested from this block. Today, Villa Maria is a globally recognised and adored for its bold, expressive and exceptional New Zealand wines.
Villa Maria only produce their reserve level wines in the best vintages. These wines receive VIP treatment from vineyard to bottle, and are highly sought after by wine enthusiasts world-wide.
The Reserve Pinot Noir showcases bright floral aromas as well as fresh black cherries and red raspberries. On the palate is an inviting mixture of dark chocolate and juicy summer berries with hints of fresh portabello mushrooms. This complex wine shows both purity and richness with chalky dense tannins and a gentle acidity to complete the wine. With correct cellaring, this wine will age gracefully, slowly releasing more fruit weight and savoury characters with bottle maturation.
